“Ah, the teenage years – a time of raging hormones, changing bodies, and, of course, acne. It can be tough to navigate skincare as a teenager, especially when you’re bombarded with ads for miracle products promising clear, perfect skin. But fear not, my fellow teens, for I have the perfect skincare routine for you!
Hormones cause pesky pimples
Acne is a natural consequence of the hormonal changes that occur during adolescence, which can include changes in appearance. When you’re a teenager, it can be difficult to navigate the world of skincare, especially when you’re inundated with advertisements for miracle creams promising smooth and flawless skin. But you don’t need to be concerned, my fellow teenagers, because I have the ideal skincare routine for you!

Keep face clean, fresh
Maintaining a clean appearance on the outside of your body is of the utmost importance. It is recommended that you remove grime, oil, and makeup from your face by washing it twice daily with a mild cleanser. Look for a cleanser that is designed specifically for your skin type, whether you have oily skin, dry skin, or skin that is somewhere in between.

Scrub away dead skin
The next step is to exfoliate! When performed once or twice per week, exfoliation can assist in the removal of dead skin cells and the unclogging of pores, both of which can contribute to fewer outbreaks. You should look for a mild exfoliant that won’t irritate your skin, and you should also be careful not to overdo it. Exfoliating your skin too much might actually make acne worse.
Hydrate skin, avoid oil
Next up, we have the skincare equivalent of the holy grail: moisturizer. Yes, you really do still need to moisturize your skin, even if it tends to be oily. Look for a moisturizer that does not include oil, is not heavy, and will not cause your pores to become clogged. Additionally, if you are concerned about acne, you should seek for a moisturizer that helps prevent breakouts by containing either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Shield skin from harm
Sunscreen should not be forgotten, either. It is essential to protect your skin from further harm by always using sunscreen, especially on days when you have no plans to spend time outside. Look for a formula that is non-oily, lightweight, and has a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30.

Drink up, hands off
In addition to the aforementioned steps, there are a few other things you can do to maintain the healthiest possible appearance of your skin. To begin, make certain that you are getting a sufficient amount of water each day; maintaining a good level of hydration is essential for having healthy skin. Second, you should make an effort to minimize the number of times that you touch your face because doing so might transfer bacteria and oil from your hands to your face. And as a final piece of advice, if you do end up with a breakout, fight the impulse to scratch or pick at it. Acne can become much worse, and picking at it might cause scars if you do it.
Stick to routine, succeed
When it comes to your skincare routine, remember that consistency is essential. If you maintain this pattern both during the day and at night, you will notice that your skin begins to show signs of improvement. My dear friends, now that you have this routine down down, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to your oily skin.
